Privacy Policy

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Audio To Text Transcription (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use our Chrome extension, website, transcription service, and related account, billing, and support features (collectively, the “Services”).

We collect only the information needed to provide and improve the Services. We do not sell user data, use it for advertising, or use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Audio To Text Transcription is operated by SHIFT LLC, a company registered in the Republic of Armenia at 5, Street 17, Argel, Nor Hachn, Kotayk region, 2404, RA.

Information We Handle

Audio, video, and transcript content

When you choose to upload a file or record microphone or browser-tab audio, the selected audio is sent to our servers over an encrypted connection so that we can provide transcription. Transcript text is also sent when you explicitly request an AI-generated summary.

We do not retain recordings or completed transcripts on our servers. Temporary audio files are deleted after processing; an automated cleanup process removes any stale temporary upload that remains because processing was interrupted. Completed transcripts and transcription history are stored locally in your browser and remain under your control until you delete them or remove the extension's local data.

Account and purchase information

If you create or use an account, we receive the account identifier, email address, display name if available, country or country tier, subscription status, and usage balance needed to authenticate you, apply usage limits, and provide paid features. Payments are processed by our billing provider. We do not receive or store complete payment-card details.

Usage analytics

We use Amplitude to understand how the extension is used and to improve reliability and usability. Analytics may include extension launches, screens and tabs viewed, button clicks and other interface actions, selected recording mode, feature usage, processing duration, file type, file size, audio duration, transcript or summary length, ratings, error codes, diagnostic information, and a pseudonymous installation identifier.

Analytics events do not include audio or video content, transcript or summary text, file names, file paths, or the contents of files. We do not collect browsing history, visited-page URLs, page content, keystrokes, or mouse position for analytics.

Support information

If you contact us, we process the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message, and attachments, solely to respond to and resolve your request.

Technical information

Our servers and service providers may process standard technical information needed to operate and secure the Services, such as IP address, request time, browser or device information, and error logs. We also use a pseudonymous browser-generated identifier to enforce usage limits for users who are not signed in.

How We Use Information

  • Provide audio and video transcription and AI-generated summaries requested by you.
  • Maintain accounts, subscriptions, purchased minutes, and usage limits.
  • Store your preferences and transcription history locally in your browser.
  • Measure feature usage and diagnose errors so we can improve performance, reliability, and usability.
  • Respond to support requests and investigate technical or security issues.
  • Prevent abuse and comply with applicable legal obligations.

Service Providers and Data Transfers

We do not sell user data or provide it to data brokers, advertisers, or other third parties for their independent use. We use service providers only where necessary to operate or improve the Services:

  • Groq and, where configured as a transcription fallback, OpenAI process audio to produce transcripts.
  • Groq processes transcript text when you request an AI-generated summary.
  • Amplitude processes pseudonymous product-usage analytics.
  • Monetize.software provides account authentication, subscription management, and payment processing.
  • Infrastructure and support providers process data necessary to host the service and respond to support requests.

These providers may process information in countries other than your own. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the security of the Services or users, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets where permitted by law.

Chrome Permissions

The extension requests Chrome permissions needed for its user-facing features, including opening the side panel, storing preferences and local history, capturing audio from a tab when you explicitly start recording, accessing the microphone with your permission, downloading exported transcripts, and communicating with our service providers. These permissions are not used to collect your browsing history or page content.

Data Retention

  • Recordings: processed temporarily and not retained on our servers after processing.
  • Completed transcripts: not stored on our servers; local history remains in your browser until you delete it.
  • Account, subscription, and usage records: retained while needed to provide the Services and satisfy legal obligations.
  • Analytics: retained according to our analytics provider's configured retention settings.
  • Support requests: retained as reasonably necessary to resolve the request and maintain support records.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. User data transmitted between the extension, our servers, and service providers is sent over encrypted connections. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Choices and Rights

You can delete individual transcripts from extension history, clear the extension's local storage, or uninstall the extension. You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with your account, subject to applicable law and necessary legal or security exceptions.

Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure

Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use user data only to provide or improve the extension's single purpose and user-facing features. We do not sell user data, use or transfer it for personalized advertising, use or transfer it for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose, or use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Services change. We will publish the updated policy on this page and revise the “Last Updated” date. If a change materially affects how the extension handles user data, we will provide any additional notice or consent required by applicable law or Chrome Web Store policy.
